If you bite the very tip of the snake tail
you will get 500 points and also get smaller.
Keep points and get smaller:

When a level gets too hard to complete, play until you
are at zero life. When you bite yourself, close the game
before your tail hits your head then open it back up. You
will find that you still have your points and the snake
will be very small.
Note: This will only work when your life is at zero.
