(2nd November, 2003):
I've finished everything I wanted to for this version of the FAQ and it's
all ready for uploading. The next version will feature a new section, but
it may be a little while before I update, so for now, the FAQ is pretty
much complete. Also, please note that I haven't spell checked the FAQ, and
I'm sure it's full of typos. I don't particularly care as long as you still
understand what I've written ;)
__________________
(1st November, 2003):
Geeze, it's November already. I got a fair bit done in my spare time today.
Hopefully I'll have the FAQ ready to submit (missing only one section) by
the end of tomorrow but I don't know how likely that is really.. I'm pretty
busy with stuff.
__________________
(31st October, 2003):
More of this and that. I don't have a huge amount to do before the FAQ is
ready for submission. Maybe just a few hours more work.
__________________
(30th October, 2003):
Fingers dead from exam today (well exams from the past week). Typing
painful. More small additions and progress.
__________________
(29th October, 2003):
Just a little more work on the smaller sections. I've still got a fair bit
of work ahead of me. After I've done more I'll decide if I'm gonna submit
the FAQ mostly complete (just missing non-vital, less important stuff), or
almost totally complete (just missing very, very minor things that may take
me a fair while to complete anyway).

Advanced Controls and Driving Techniques
_____________________________________________________________________________
(Driving Techniques
| You'll come across a large variety of tracks in Wacky
| Wheels. Each with their own special geological features.
| If you find yourself submerged in water, quicksand or
| even lava for that matter, you're racer will put up a
| periscope and continue driving. The only problem is that
| they will be moving rather slowly. If at all possible, do
| your best to stay out of deep liquids as they will hamper
| your progress quite a bit. There are expections to this
| rule however, those being in the event of a brief
| underwater trip being necessary to shave off a few second
| of your lap time via a handy shortcut.
| Please also note that the ability to submerge your kart
| underwater comes in mighty handy when hiding out in
| multiplayer.
|
| While you're in the air thanks to one of the numerous
| jumps located about certain track you'll be happy to know
| that you are immune to weapon fire and items. A carefully
| timed jump can save your rear many a time.
|
| If you've got a racer on your tail and they simply will
| not go away, and you're worried about them firing a
| weapon up your arse, look for a turbo pad. Not only will
| it get them off your back, but you'll gain a quite a
| considerable temporary boost in speed. Alternatively you
| could opt to drive like a maniac in the hopes that they
| will end up crashing into an obstacle that you have
| carefully avoided.
|
| On the odd occasion it may be in your best interest to
| slow down and let other racers infront of you for a
| second. Like for example just before the home straight on
| the last lap of a race when you have a killer weapon and
| the other racer is riding your tail like nobody's
| business. Simply let off the accelerator briefly, allow
| them to get in front, line up your shot and fire away!
\._
_____________________________________________________________________________
(The Handbrake Turn
| If you're planning on having a halfway decent chance of
___________ | winning races in Wacky Wheels, especially the later ones
| space | | then you're going to have to become a master of the
| handbrake turn. Thankfully the handbrake turn is quite
_|_ | simple to execute. Just as you pass the barrier on either
| | your left or right, depending on which direction you are
| turning in, hit the spacebar (while holding the direction
|| || | of your turn). You'll instantly pull an impossible 90
| <- | or | -> | | degree turn and rip it round the corner.
|____| |____| | Without the aid of the handbrake turn you would find
| yourself and sliding all over the place and losing
| valuable time in races.
\._
_____________________________________________________________________________
(Thoughtful Item Use
| This, although fairly obvious, is easy to slip the mind
./o\. | or forget in the heat of the moment. When dealing with
\ - - - / | weapons and items use your head!
\\- - - -// | If you've got an oil slick put it on a narrow piece of
'- --- -` | track or somewhere you're sure it will be run over, and
- - - - | on the same token don't put it somewhere you're likely
- - - - | to be driving next lap.
.- --- -, | If you pick up fire, and you're on the final stretch of
-- - -- | your last lap, don't fire it aimlessly at a straggler
/ --- \ | who you've almost lapped, keep it ready just incase
// \\ | another racer tries to pull a fast one on you. Be smart.
\._
_____________________________________________________________________________
(RemoteRidicule aka Giggle Keys
| Ever wonder who conjured up the idea for
// \ / --- \-/\\ | communication between players in online
/-/ ( ) \-\ | games? Well here's your answer baby!
_-\ --- /-_ | Yep, by pressing either F1 through F6 if
/ \ | you're player one, or keys 1 through 6 if you
/ \ | happen to be player two you will be able to
.` '. | pass on a number of 'friendly' gestures to
| | | your opponents. The idea of cyber-mooning a
| | | friend may seem juvinile, but it's all in
'. \ / .` | good fun.
\ | / |
\ | / | The idea of hotkeys to perform Wacky Wheel's
\ ----`----/ | RemoteRidicule spawned the idea for the
| | | | | ability for users to chat to each other in
| | | | | a number of games released shortly after
-- -- | Wacky Wheels.
|
| Note: The limit of how many times you can
| RemoteRidicule another player in any
| given game is 4 times.

Game Menus
Here's a list of the game menus and what can be found in them. There's
actually quite a few menus and sub-menus to get through so this should be
handy.
____________________
Single Player Racing - Upon entering the Single Player Racing menu you'll
have the task of navigating your way through a bunch of
game menus. These are:
>> Select character: Chose from one of the 8 racers
>> Select difficulty mode: Amature: Easy Cup mode
Pro: Normal Cup mode
Championship: Hard Cup mode
Time Trial: Race against the clock
Kid Mode: If you're reading this
I don't think that you
will be needing to play
this mode..
>> Select number of Laps: Chose from 6, 8 or 10 laps
>> Select horsepower class: 12HP for fast engines, 6HP for slow
>> Standard or Bonus Cup: Choose between the regular races or
bonus races (if you have them)
>> Race Division: Here you select between Bronze,
Silver or Gold races. Each of these
features 5 tracks for you to race in
order.
____________________
Two Player Race - In this mode you can race Cups against a friend and
other racers, or race head-to-head.
____________________
Two Player Shoot Out - This is great fun. Pretty much the same as battle mode
from games such as Mario Kart (as if Wacky Wheels
didn't 'borrow' enough ideas and features as it is..
You can select to player for 5, 10, 15 or 20 shots.
____________________
Wacky Duck Shoot - Fancy a bit of target practice? Here's the place. The
basic idea is a duck hunt. Stock up on ammo and go wax
some ducks! Wacky Duck Shoot keept track of your best
four scores.
____________________
Comm-Bat Play - Here you can select from either Modem play or Serial
Cable. After doing so you'll be asked either to 'make
call' or 'wait'.
____________________
Game Options - In here you will find three menus.
>> Graphic Details levels: Select between low, medium and high
resolutions for both single player
and split-screen modes. Lowering
these settings will increase the
speed at which the games runs,
especially on older, slower machines.
>> Volume: Adjust the volume levels of the
Music, Sound Effects and Engine
Effects.
>> Race Screen: This alters what's displayed on your
HUD (Race Screen). You can turn on or
off the Overhead Map, Clock Display
and Speedometer.
____________________
Wacky Wheels Info - Here you'll find the Ordering info, the 8 page
Instructions on how to play the game, Famous Drivers
and the all-important game credits.
Famous drivers contains a record of all of your Cup
placing, time trial records and so on.
____________________
Ordering Info - Despite being the full version, you can still view the
11 page ordering info (including features and
instructions) that was included with the demo version.
Either the programmers couldn't be bothered removing
the code, or they wanted to leave it in there for some
reason or another.. I think the latter.

Leave Game - I wonder..
______________________________________________________________________________
Engine Classes
>> 12 Horsepower - Karts will move quite quick but most gamers will be more
than capable of driving at these speeds.
Speed: 80 mph
>> 6 Horsepower - This engine class is much better suited to beginners and
youngins'
Speed: 56 mph
______________________________________________________________________________
Race Classes
>> Amature Class - For beginners. Opposing racers are fairly tame, not too
smart and relatively slow)
>> Professional Class - Competition in the Professional class can be hard at
times as other racers will show some brains, and be
fairly quick. Once you're used to the game, controls
and track layouts clearing Pro Cups should be fairly
easy).
>> Champion Class - Champion class races can be pretty tough at times. Your
opposition are lightning fast, mean and aggressive.
They'll ram you from behind, and if you slip up, half the
pack of racers will fly past in a flash! Getting 1st place
in all the Champion cups could prove difficult..but keep
at it and you'll get there eventually!)
______________________________________________________________________________
Turbo Pads
On various tracks you'll find turbo pads, often located on the inside of sharp
bends and corners. If you drive over one you're kart will get a sudden
temporary speed boost and you'll rocket ahead. Turbo pads are yellow and look
like this
---------------------------------------

.--' .--' .--' .--'
--'. --'. --'. --'.
`--. `--. `--. `--.

`-- `-- `-- `--
---------------------------------------
______________________________________________________________________________
Jumps
Jumps are also located on specific tracks in Wacky Wheels. When you drive over
one you'll not only get a boost into the air (temporarily making you
invunerable to enemy fire) but you'll also get a slick speed boost. Jumps are
yellow and white and look like this:

Points (Cups)
In all of the different Wacky Wheels Cups, you will earn points depending on
your final position at the end of the race. After the five races for each of
the Bronze, Silver and Gold Cups (Including bonus), for each of the difficulty
settings, either a Gold (1st), Silver (2nd) or Bronze (3rd) Cup will be
awarded based on the final leaderboard. The harder Cups will require more
points to gain 1st prize, 2nd prize and 3rd prize.

GENERAL TIPS & TRICKS
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Single Player Cups
-> On the first lap of a race try to collect as much ammo (hogs) as you think
you will need. The more the better. This will not only help you stock up
for the race but will ensure other racers don't get their grubby little
hands/fins/paws on some fire power.
-> Be smart with your item use and placement. Put bombs and oil slicks in
narrow areas of track, or in paths you know other racers will travel. On
the flip-side of this, don't put an item where you'll come across it in the
next lap. It can be rather frustrating spinning out on the final turn of
you last lap and slipping from first place to the middle of the pack
because you're run into your own oil slick or bomb!
-> Become familiar with tracks, and where to find jumps, turbos, ammo, items
and the places to avoid driving.
---
Your ammo (hogs) carry over to the following races. This means that if you
collect a lot in your first few races (remember to do so in earlier laps, see
above for reasons) not only will you have plenty for the following races, but
you may be able to avoid collecting further ammo period. This will give you
time to concentrate on the more important things, like shaving seconds off
your laps by driving in the quickest lines possible.
---
If you're having trouble winning cups, take note of the leaderboard after each
race and then focus your attacks on the other racers who occupy the ranks
above (and close below) you. Because cups are played on a points based system,
if you can allow racers other than those who are currently winning races to
get points, it will help you out in gaining and maintaining an overall lead.
Try and target specific racers!
---
Before a race starts be sure to already be holding down the accelerate button.
There is no turbo-start and so there is no point in not giving yourself every
oportunity you can to get off to a decent start in races.
---
On your final laps, if you find yourself with a rather acceptable lead, go
out of your way to grab ammo for the next race. It will come in handy, and if
you've got time to spare then why not?
---
When it comes to that final race, remember, you don't need to stock up on hogs
as the next race..well, there isn't one. Shoot the feces out of everything and
everyone!
---
If you steer for too long in one direction your racer will go into a skid. To
stop this, quickly steer in the opposite direction, just for a split second.
It's far better to get out of the skid and end up going in a bit of an
unwanted direction briefly than go sliding into a wall and losing valuable
time.
______________________________________________________________________________
Multiplayer
You will come to find that if you drive into any form of liquid your kart will
become submerged, and your driver will erect a periscope to keep an eye on
things.
A small rotating periscope is a lot harder to spot in the distance than a
brightly coloured racer. Not to mention you can still fire while submerged.
---
RemoteRidicule can be a very effective way of pissing off AND hampering your
human opponents. They can be annoying, but more importantly block partial view
of the screen which can prove quite advantageous.

CHARACTERS
,____________________________________________________________________________
Wacky Wheels features 8 racers.. all of which have recently escpaed from the
local Zoo in their Go-Karts.
I don't know how, or why any of them found themselves behind the wheel of a
go-kart at a zoo, but that's not the important thing. The important thing is
that they exist, and are all available to be raced with or against and I'm
here to tell you all about them.
____________________
TIGI -
Motto: "Vroom! Growl!"
Animal: Tiger
Description: Tigi is a pretty cool character. If I had to guess I'd
probably say fairly young too...but you never know.
____________________
BLOMBO
Motto: "Never Forgets"
Animal: Elephant
Description: This big racer packs some attitude. I certainly wouldn't
want to come out on the wrong end of a collision with
Blombo.
____________________
RINGO
Motto: "Rapid Rascal"
Animal: Raccoon
Description: I don't find anything particularly outstanding about
Ringo myself. Although there isn't a huge deal to judge
on, I feel Ringo lacks the personality of the other
racers :P
____________________
RAZER
Motto: "Killer Wheels"
Animal: Shark
Description: Razer is far and away my favourite Wacky Wheels racer.
He's got a mean attitude and is a really cool character.
There's something about this 'killer' racer that just
really appeals to me. Chances are that if I'm playing
Wacky Wheels, I'm doing so behing the wheel with Razer!
____________________
UNO
Motto: "Cute and Fast"
Animal: Panda
Description: Uno certainly is a cute one. Don't let looks deceive you
though, there's nothing cute about the way Uno races.
____________________
SULTAN
Motto: "One Hump or Two?"
Animal: Camel
Description: Well wherever this zoo was, it sure did play home to
quite the selection of animals. Sultan seem to me to be
somewhat of a diamond in the rough. There's nothing
particularly outstanding about him, but he tends to kick
a lot of rear in races.
____________________
MORRIS
Motto: "Old Reliable"
Animal: Moose
Description: By far the most senior of the 8 racers, Morris still
manages to hold up quite well for his age. A good pick.
____________________
PEGGLES
Motto: "Turbo Squawk!"
Animal: Duck
Description: Don't let the goofy looks of Peggles fool you... well
actually, they wouldn't really be fooling you. I'm not
a big fan of Peggles and rarely use him.

WEAPONS & ITEMS
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Weapons (Single Player)
>> Hedgehogs: Your key weapon. These will build up as you gather them
throughout tracks, and are rather plentiful. Stock up and fire
them up the tail-pipe of anyone who dares be ahead of you.
When hit by a hog karts come to a crashing halt, and must start
again from the skidding stop they've just come to.
Each hog you run through will give you four hogs to fire at
opponents.
>> Match Box: Matchboxe's are killer. They have the power of hogs, multiplied
by three, and the fireballs they shoot out look really cool.
Yes that's right, you get three deadly balls of destruction for
the price of one.
______________________________________________________________________________
Items (Single Player)
>> Bomb: Drop one of these and it'll arm itself and turn red. Great if
opposing racers run into them as they'll spin out. Don't think you're
immune to your own dirty work though. if you run into a bomb you'll
find that you'll also end up in a skid.
>> Oil Can: When used, your racer will empty the contents of the Oil Can all
over the track, creating a slimy black oil slick. if you haven't
already guessed it, yes, you WILL spin out if you run over an oil
slick. Some tracks even have slicks already on them.
>> Devil Pups: These boys are mean. When you drop two devil pups they will
bounce back and forth off the two closes walls. Anyone that
gets in the path of either will find themselves out of control.
Lots of bang for your buck so look out.
______________________________________________________________________________
Weapons (Multiplayer)
>> Hedgehogs: If you cop one of these in a shoot out, you're gone for. Hogs
provide the ultimate, rapid-fire WAXING device!
>> Match Box: You'll find that Match Boxes also now have the power to kill in
multiplayer shoot outs. They still unleash three roasting hot
fireballs so watch your back. They can be very deadly.
______________________________________________________________________________
Items (Multiplayer)
>> Upside Down Hog: Watch out for this one! It's by far the most annoying of
all the game's weapons. If you run over one of these once
it's been set, the hog will kick your racer's kart, in
effect flipping your screen upside down, and making it a
real pain to see what the hell you're doing, or where the
hell you're going.
>> Bomb: Be warey. If you find yourself heading for a bomb in a multiplayer
shoot out, avoid it at all costs, it WILL take your life.
>> Oil Can: As is the case with bombs, you'll simply spin out if you run over
an oil slick in multplayer modes. No loss of life will result.
>> Devil Pups: These triky critters get even worse in multiplayer, as they
will wipe you out, not just spin you out, if you get too close.
Be on the look out as they can be hard to spot in the distance
and are extremely deadly.
______________________________________________________________________________
Secret Weapon (Single & Multiplayer)
>> Ice Cube: Whoever is unlucky enough to find themselves copping the elusive
Ice Cube is in a whole world of trouble. The ice will freeze up
the engine of the kart it collides with, causing the kart to
stall, and costing a LOT, and I mean LOT of time. Very sneaky
tactic for winning races, but I rarely use it as winning a race
on pure skill is far more rewarding.
If you're wondering how to get the ice cube, you can see the
secrets section of this FAQ...or keep reading here ;)

BRONZE TRACKS
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 1
____________
Difficulty: - 1.5/10
____________
Description: - The first track of the game is quite simple in design and
quite easy to navigate. A great introduction to the Wacky
Wheels universe. Just watch out for the tires! Ammo and items
are all very easy to get and not at all out of your way.
____________
Strategy: - Handbrake around all the major turns. Make sure to hit the jump
directly around the first corner for an extra speed boost. As I
said in the description ammo and items are all pretty much in
your line of driving so pick up as much and as many as you can.
Stock up on hogs for later races and watch out for the poles
covered in tires. A direct hit will loose you a kart (life).
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 2
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - Water lapping at the edges of a series of dirt tracks on a
remote island. What could be more relaxing and peaceful? You'll
find that the second track in the game is also of a rather
minimal difficulty level, and also introduces you to a number
of the harazards such as water. This track is good practice for
mastering the handbrake turn around corners to save yourself
valuable seconds.
____________
Strategy: - Use the handbrake to rip it around the first corner and dirve
right up the middle of the greenery ahead, collection both hogs
as you pass throgh. Use the handbrake to tackle corner number
two of the track and pick up the next hog you see. Again, make
good use of the handbrake to tightly take the next corner as
close to the barrier as you can, making sure not to hit it,
you'll need to handbrake twice as the corner is very sharp.
Then drive diagonally across the track to the next corner and
also handbrake around it. Drive diagonally again to the next
corner, avoiding the shallow water and grabbing the bomb or
fire on your way. Finally, handbrake the last corner and you're
set. Repeat a number of times and good luck.
____________
Tips: - >> Watch out for the water lillys, and algae, they'll slow you
down if you drive over them.
>> Shallow water will also slow you down.
>> Deep water will almost bring you to a halt so avoid it at
all times.
>> Crashing into a water bullrush (I think that's what they're
called. The verticle plants with brown tops) will destroy
your kart, so like, don't do it.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 3
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - This wood based track is pretty much based entirely on straight
lines and thus you will be relying heavily on the handbrake
turn technique to win here. It features both a jump and turbo
pad.
____________
Strategy: - As you approach the first turn be aware that a jump lies around
the corner. Handbrake it and make sure you make the jump as
it'll provide a nice little boost in speed. Again, use the
handbrake to navigate the second corner and grab the hogs that
are waiting up ahead and hit the turbo. If you can't manage
both, make sure the turbo is your priority.
The track zig-zags a little up ahead but you can drive a
straight line right up the middle of it (or weave around and
grab hogs). I'd suggest the straight line unless you really
need ammo as it's a time saver.
____________
Tips: - >> Avoid running into the yellow and black poles near corners.
Unless you plan on losing lives anyway..
>> The handbrake is your friend. Use it. This course is the
perfect track for handbrake turning as it's made up entirely
of a series of straights and 90 degree bends.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 4
____________
Difficulty: - 3/10
____________
Description: - Track number four of the bronze cup will find your out in the
scorching desert. The track is fairly wide, and has plenty of
curves and bends. There's a decent number of hazards to run in
to (pun intended) along the way, so be on the lookout.
____________
Strategy: - Stay on the track at all costs. The surrounding sand will
really slow you down. To make it around the first bend,
handbrake once, and then again. Keep an eye out for the dark
patches of sand on the track, they'll slow down your kart quite
considerably. Make a bee-line for the next bend and handbrake
around it once. Likewise the next turn but handbrake twice and
hit the turbo! Take the following corner and make good use of
the jump. Finish up your lap and repeat.
____________
Tips: - >> Watch out for the cacti littered around the track,
especially near corners.
>> Stay on the track at all times.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 5
____________
Difficulty: - 3/10
____________
Description: - The final track of the Bronze cup is a well-designed racing
circuit. It features a jump and a bridge. With a little luck
you'll top off the perfect first four races with a flawless
last. Good luck.
____________
Strategy: - If by now you haven't got the drift, the handbrake is an
essential part of the racing action in Wacky Wheels. Use it on
the first corner and cross the jump around the bend. Continue
using the handbrake around corners. You'll come to a bridge
eventually. You'll also notice there was a bomb to be picked up
moments earlier. Make sure you grab it next lap if you don't
already have it and drop the sucker smack-bang in the middle of
the bridge to take out the next unlucky sod that crosses the
bridege...hopefully for you whoever is in second place.
As long as you learn the locations of the slippery oil around
two of the turns on the track, and then avoid running into it
you should have no problems.
____________
Tips: - >> There's oil slicks on two of the corners of the track. It
is highly recommended that you do not run into them for
rather obvious reasons.
>> On the side of the track you'll find deadly barrels, also
steer clear of those.

SILVER TRACKS
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 1
____________
Difficulty: - 3/10
____________
Description: - This track is a series of straights and turns set on molten
rock formations floating in lava that just happen to be the
perfect shape for racing on.
____________
Strategy: - Despite having very shapely curves, this track has corners just
like the rest of them so don't be fooled. They can be taken
using the handbrake technique you just need to think logically
and line up each turn.
It may be a good idea to run around this track a few times to
get to know the corners, and how to take them, as you may end
up in the drink if you screw up a turn, or worse, through the
screen (if you collide with a pole directly).
In order, you'll find a bomb, a few hogs and then a match box,
devil pups, three more lots of hogs and then a turbo pad all in
quick sucession towards the middle and later part of the
course. Stocking up on ammo should have priority over items...
and making sure you run through the turbo pad every single lap
must be your primary goal! After the turbo if you stil want
items you'll see an oil can and matchbox (again). If you wish,
grab those.
____________
Tips: - >> If you run off the track you've got nowhere to go but into
the lava, which will slow you down heaps, so stick to the
track at all times.
>> Those nasty yellow and black poles are back. Don't run into
them unless you plan on losing lives.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 2
____________
Difficulty: - 3.5/10
____________
Description: - This richly coloured track can seem a little daunting at first
due to the narrow-ish track, water and all the hedges around
the place but it's really fairly simple once you get to know
your way around.
____________
Strategy: - Take the first corner on the inside (the paths splits in two)
as this is not only quicker, but there is a hog for you to
collect.
Around the bend, assuring you stay on the track as much as you
can, grab hogs and fire. Once you're on the bridge, stay on it!
I know there's items and ammo in the water surrounding but why
waste your time driving out at a snails pace to get them? It's
much smarter if you're behind without ammo to just use your
great driving skills to reclaim the lead. After the brigde and
towards the end of the couse is a series of tight, zig-zaging
corners snaking their way towards the finish line. They will
each need a little steering and one handbrake turn..
____________
Tips: - >> Don't be intimidated by the narrow track. It's not all that
difficult to navigate providing you know your way around it.
>> Do not, I repeat, do not venture into the water. You'll cost
yourself more time than could possibly be of benefit to you.
>> There are plenty of hedges and bushes around to take the
life of your dear old kart. Be careful not to collide with
any directly.
>> The grass around the track is killer, and will slow you
down loads if you end up on it...so keep off.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 3
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - We're back in the desert folks. This fairly wide track will be
an absolute piece of cack providing you read the info below.
If not, you'll still find it relatively easy so take your time
to enjoy the rich desert landscape.
____________
Strategy: - As with most of the other tracks the strategy remains fairly
similar for the most part. Stay on the track as the lighter
sand will slow you down, and stay off the dark patches of sand
on the track as they'll do likewise. The only real difference
this time is there's a nice time-saving shortcut, which is so
obvious and easily executed it's barely worth calling a
shortcut. We'll get to that in a moment.
While racing you'll see a lot of hogs about the place but most
of them are out of your way, and not really worth making the
effort to grab unless you are quite low on ammo or need to take
out some competition to gain the lead. Avoid grabbing the ammo
unless you need it or have a good lead and want to stock up.
This shortcut is going into the last turn and quite obvious.
Your handbrake once around a corner and then instead of doing
so again to make it right round and follow the path, you simply
cut across the sand briefly and through the clear gap in the
wall. Easy as. See the map below.
(Map section is displayed in the top-right corner of your screen when racing
so if you don't know where the map is talking about look at your on screen map
for an indication)

______________________________________________________________________________
Track 4
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - This track is another of those very straight wooden tracks.
To get through in one piece all you'll need is a series of
well-executed handbrake turns. That's pretty much it.
____________
Strategy: - When you start the race just go straight ahead, and up the
middle of the first turn until you get to a point where you
can handbrake left and make it around. Take the second corner
nice and wide so you'll be in line with the turbo that is
waiting for you there. There's also a jump on the track, make
sure you hit it every time every lap. To assue you hit it make
sure you drive directly over the middle of it.
____________
Tips: - >> Pick up and use the Devil Pups on this track as it's very
narrow so they're almost a sure bet. Find the most narrow
part of the track for best results.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 5
____________
Difficulty: - 3.5/10
____________
Description: - What could be more fitting for the final track than a go-kart
ciruit? Be warned though, one false turn and you could find
yourself in a spot of bother.
____________
Strategy: - I'll keep this short and simple. Get to know the track and work
on your turns. Once you've got that down you should have no
really problems unless you mis-time a turn, which can happen,
but a quick recovery and all is well.
Most of the turns in the track can be made short work of with
a simple handbrake turn at the right point in time. Don't panic
when you come to the zig-zaging section ot the track. Keep your
cool and you should be fine.
On the final turn, go up the inside and then handbrake at the
end (up the inside of the turn) and you'll line yourself up to
nail the turbo pad that's aorund the bend.
____________
Tips: - >> Barrels are bad. They are deadly to karts. Don't crash into
barrels.

GOLD TRACKS
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 1
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - This sand-surrounded track is quite easy to do well on. The
water in places also makes for a nice change in scenery. As you
would expect from a first track, it's fairly simple and
straight forward.
____________
Strategy: - Begins such a simply designed track you shouldn't really find
that the going is overly tough. Handbrake around all turns as
per usual.
Approach and take the first turn up the inside, carefully
avoiding the yellow and red pole, then move to the right of the
track and cut across the water (it's not deep so you won't
sink) to take the next turn. Be careful to stay off the sandy
gaps in the track and avoid the red and yellow poles.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 2
____________
Difficulty: - 1.5/10
____________
Description: - Easy, easy. This track is just a race around the outer edges of
a big lot of deep water. It's a very short track too so the
race will be over before you know it.
____________
Strategy: - At the start of the race you'll find the one real place that
you'll be able to save time. Cut across the lilly-filled water
to the left of the first turn and then stick to the close
inside edge of the track (closest to water). That's all the
advice I can give as the track is so simple (and easy). Just
make sure to cut across the little bit at the start of the
race and you're set.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 3
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - More red-hot lava racing action is headed your way on track
numero four. The track is very linear and straight so the
handbrake will again be your best friend.
____________
Strategy: - For starters, get this in your mind. h-a-n-d-b-r-a-k-e. Yep.
That'll do ya. As long as you're using it to carve it up 'round
each and every bend you shouldn't have a trouble in the world.
When you come to the Devil Pups, pick them up and use them
right away. The track here is narrow and they'll surely both
end up spinning out a racer. Feel free to grab the matchboxes
that follow, if you want them. There we go.. just remember,
handbrake, handbrake, handbrake.
____________
Tips: - >> There is a very dark section of magma that is just across
the lava from a 180 degree turn. Stay the HELL off it. If
you end up on there it'll regularly spin you out making it
difficult to get off the little island as it would seem, and
back into the racing action.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 4
____________
Difficulty: - 4/10
____________
Description: - At first glance this track will seem quite daunting, complex
and just plain 'whoa!'...and by Wacky Wheels standards, well,
it is. That isn't saying a huge lot though. There's grass
everywhere, water, bushes and all manner of stuff. Not to
mention the turns are crazy and all over the place.
____________
Strategy: - I'd suggest practicing this course a fair bit before going in
to race it... unless you don't mind not winning. Things can
get very hectic. The turns are pretty crazy, sharp and weirdly
designed. Parts of the track snake all over the place and also
get quite narrow.
Take the first turn up the inside and watch out for the hedge.
On the next turn cut through the deep water with two quick
handbrake turns to save a decent wad of time. As for the rest
of the track, make sure you know your corners and how to best
navigate them otherwise you'll find yourself everyhwere but at
the front of the pack.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 5
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - Have you noticed a trent? All the final tracks appear to be
racing circuits. This ons is another example of pretty cool
track design so do try to enjoy the ride.
____________
Strategy: - The track is very narrow in a lot of places so keep that in
mind. Also, there is a very sharp left turn right near the
start of the race. Most people drive straight into the
barrier first time as it can be pretty hard to see. Don't fall
into the same trap.
Around the second last major turn in the track is a split.
There are two sets of white painted arrows showing you your two
choices in passing around the circle smack bang in the middle
of the track. Take the outeside path and you'll be treated to a
lovely turbo pad. Hit that all six times and winning this race
should be pretty simple.

______________________________________________________________________________
Track 1 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - If it weren't for a small zig-zag in the track this wooden
course would be a square. By now you should have got the hint
that handbrake turns are great for 90 degree bends..
____________
Strategy: - Handbrake the first turn and the jump. Continue handbraking
around the bends until you come to the zig-zag in the track.
Drive diagonally up the middle and save some valuable seconds.
How easy was that?
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 2 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 3/10
____________
Description: - Another lush lakeside track is the second of the bonus tracks.
It can be a bit of a toughie until you get to know your way
around it.
____________
Strategy: - Take the first turn up the inside and grab the hog. While
racing just try to stay on the track and not the grass..also
don't venture into the water for any reason. It'll slow you
down and provide no advantage.
On the second last turn, cut across the grass, carefully
avoiding the bushes. This is a nice time saver. The area I am
referring to is on the top right of the on-screen map.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 3 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - We are back in the desert for another round of sweaty racing
action. Drink plenty before tackling race number three...
although the track is very short so you'll be out of the sun in
no time at all. You can race the entire track without once
using the handbrake if you so desire. I'd suggest doing so as
it's one of the onnly tracks you can get away with it on.
____________
Strategy: - This short track is made quick work of when you make clever use
of both the jump and turbo. Stay off the dark sand patches
littered around the track, and on the very first turn, take it
wide and go around the outside of the walled-off area in the
middle of the track. The only thing of use on the inside of it
is matches...which you can do without for this brief race.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 4 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - Once more you will be racing on a track of solidified lava
surrounded by the not so solid kind. There aren't too many
suprises to discover here so the race will be pretty
straightforward.
____________
Strategy: - Short and too the point: handbrake around all the 90 degree
turns on the track, collecting whatever ammo and items you feel
the need for along the way. The second last turn has a turbo so
make sure ya drive through it for the speed boost each lap.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 5 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - The final track of the first bonus cup is a fairly simple
affair, there are some hazards on the track but when you know
your way around, avoiding them is pretty easy.
____________
Strategy: - A lot of the corner on the track have a few oil slicks sitting
on them, almost all around the far outside of the corner. What
this simply means is that you'll have to judge your handbrake
turns to take you up the inside of all the corners (which you
ought to be doing anyway as it's the quickest path and will
help you build up a good lead).
After the first turn is a jump, located in the middle of the
track. Hopefully by now I don't need to remind you to hit it
every lap.
Six laps of this and you'll be seeing the final cup results..
and if all goes to plan your racer of choice can hold up the
Wacky Wheels Bronze Cup Trophy proudly.

SILVER TRACKS (bonus)
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 1 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - This far into the game you'd think your crazy racer would have
realised that racing through mud and in water isn't good for
go-karts, generally speaking, but it wouldn't seem that way.
At least you won't be around to see the results of the
mis-treatment of the karts in the game.. I wouldn't wanna be
footing the damn bill.
____________
Strategy: - Not much can be said for this track really. While you're racing
it just stay on the dirt as much as you possibly can, stay away
from the grass and deep water, and spend as little time in the
shallow water as you can. If you have time to spare then stock
up on hogs for the next few races.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 2 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - This happens to be another of the shorts tracks in Wacky
Wheels and is among the easier of the lot as well. Making a
mistake could prove costly though because there isn't a whole
lotta time to reverse your error as it's all over in a very
short time.
____________
Strategy: - While racing be sure you keep an eye out for patches of sand in
the middle of the track and do what is needed to avoid them.
Use the handbrake turn for corners as always.
Around the middle of the track, to your right you'll spot three
wooden poles with tire around them. Cut through these and
handbrake around the bend to the right. This will save you a
good couple of seconds despite having to drive through a bit of
sand to do so.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 3 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - This track, another of the linear wooden courses is one of the
longest in the game. This makes for plenty of opportunity to
grab the lead, and then improve it. It also features a whopping
THREE jumps and a Turbo! Crazy. You'll be wanting to slam the
lot of them every lap for best results.
____________
Strategy: - Yikes! There's so much stuff on this track...items, jumps, ammo
and a turbo pad. Heaps of turns..and dangerous poles.
As far as the strategy goes, it's the usual for these types of
tracks. Every single turn can be navigated with a quick
application of the handbrake. Use it. Always. Other than that,
take the second turn wide so you're in line with the turbo that
is waiting for you.
Make sure you get all the jumps you can every lap and in doing
so make sure that you don't miss them and indead run into a
pole or things won't be looking too pretty.. and you'll have to
start the entire race over.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 4 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - I keep expecting some of the Wacky Duck Shoot ducks to show
their faces in one of these lakeside tracks... however you
won't be finding any this time round at least. There are a few
bushes you'll need to look out for, and a bit of grass that can
slow you down but that's about it.
____________
Strategy: - Learn your way round this track and how to best avoid being
slowed down by grass. Once you've got that down pat just stick
to the dirt track and try your best to blow your opposition
into next week early on and then just work on your lead.
Don't head off into the water after items as it's a waste of
time.
Before the last turn is a big patch of grass that you can cut
across if you wish. It doesn't make a huge difference to your
time if you take this 'shortcut' so it's really up to you if
you do so.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 5 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - I'm hoping once you're up to this track you've already got the
cup in the bag.. if not, you may have a spot of bother because
of your 'must. win. race.' mindset. There's a bit of oil here
and there to be a pain in the arse but avoiding it isn't a
difficult task if you keep a level head about it.
____________
Strategy: - Take the most direct path to the next corner, and then
handbrake around it. Rinse and repeat. Of course along the way
your will need to do your best not to run into the numerous oil
slicks spread about the track, but like with every other
course, the better you know it, the easeir it is to avoid
ostacles.
This is your last chance to score points so put in your best
effort and see how it goes.

GOLD TRACKS (bonus)
,____________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 1 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - This lava-based track marks the beginning of the end. The first
race of the final cup. As always you'll have to stay out of the
lava, but now there are also a number of dark patches scattered
about the track that will spin you out if you run over them.
____________
Strategy: - Things on this track are a fairly standard affair. The
handbrake turn will help you sucessfully navigate the course.
Keep an eye out for the slightly darker patches of track as
these will more often then not spin out your kart if you run
over them. You can get lucky and run over one with no
consequence, but I don't recommend taking the chance.
As you approach the 180 degree turn which has barriers on both
the inside and outside of the track, get ready for a minor
shortcut. The barrier on your right has a little gap in it
which you can handbrake through to snip a bit of time off each
lap. The gap is pretty small though so make sure you are lined
up well or you'll end up losing more time than you gain from
the turn.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 2 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 1.5/10
____________
Description: - Someone was feeling creative when they designed this track :P
It's a good change though. The course is just a run around the
outside of a big lake. There's few obstacles and the course is
very, very short. You won't even _need_ to use the handbrake
turn.
____________
Strategy: - At the start of the race simply head a bit to the left and cut
across the water to save a bit of time. For the remainder of
each very brief lap just stick to the inside of the track
(closest to left) and work on maintaining and building your
lead.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 3 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - Nothing tops off pristine sandy landscapes like a nice big blob
of tar and gravel bang in the middle. You'll find there's two
jumps on this course but only one can be used each time..
____________
Strategy: - More of the usual 'handbrake here, there and everywhere'. Be on
the ball so as to not run into the dangerous red and yellow
striped poles or veer off track into the slow sand.
The race begins with an almost instant left turn, so make sure
not to miss it and run into the barrier. From there, you'll see
ahead on your right is some water. Cut across it and throw some
handbrake into the mix to make short work of the next bend.
It's up to you which of the two jumps you chose. It really
makes no difference...as long as you get one at least.

Track 4 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2/10
____________
Description: - Not long now. Better make this one count. This time we're back
in the desert to try our luck at more kart-damaging sand-racing
action. Don't take your eyes off the track for too long or you
may be picking cactus spines out of yourself...
____________
Strategy: - Much of this track is quite wide so handbrake as many of the
turns as necessary and cut across wide areas of track
diagonally to get to the next turn in the sohortest distance
you can. Watch out for the cactus and don't forget to hit the
easy-to-miss mini-sized turbo pad towards the final part of the
track. If you're low on ammo now is the time to stock up.
______________________________________________________________________________
Track 5 (Bonus)
____________
Difficulty: - 2.5/10
____________
Description: - You've made it. The final track in the game. Make the best of
it now won't you. As usual, the final cup track is another kart
racing circuit. Hopefully you've got all the ammo and
experience you'll need to make short work of this, the very
last track in the game. There's two jumps about the track as
well so as always, aim to get them both, every lap.
____________
Strategy: - This course is reasonably short so a mistake can really cost
you. Most often these mistake will be in the form of mis-timing
a jump and ending up off the track, or veering into an oil
slick and then spinning out as a result. Make sure you know the
track well to avoid hazards.
The second jump can be a bit tricky to get, and landing on the
track at the end of the jump can also prove a tad difficult as
the track gets pretty narrow.
I suggest going into the final race having practiced the track
a few times in time trial to get to know its layout. Once
you're efficient in navigating this track you'll do fine.
Six laps of fun and then it's all over. You're completed (and
hopefully won) the very last track in the game. Now it's time
to keep yourself busy with Wacky Duck Shoot, Time Trials and of
course the multiplayer.
Well done!
