Version History
Uploaded on 17/12/05: Purchased the game, after hours of playing I settled my
mind on what the best team/best players is to have in the game. Based on the
fact that I play football managerial games regularly.
Updated on 27/12/05: Ive been receiving many emails, all of which im
delighted to read asking if there’s any cheats for this game as soon as I
find some cheats I will put them on Gamefaqs and on my guide. Ive added
the version history to my guide so people can see what ive updated easier.
Updated on 2/1/05: Been in contact with my Italian friend Nick who
has been a great help adding more stuff/giving me good tips for the
game witch ive added, see bottom best team in Nicks opinion.
Updated on 4/1/06: New Year update, yay! I received an email from Nick
who corrected some mistakes so I made some general changes and corrected
those mistakes, still no cheats though I am looking, that’s all for now,
be back soon.

I have added a FAQ section that lists some of the questions I get asked
and how I reply. Hope these help you. Also my layout/ style of

Introduction
Hi my name is Richard Jessett and I enjoy writing FAQ’s and reviews,
even the occasional cheat when I know them. Ive submitted several
player guides for Football managerial games, though this is my
most commonly updated guideand ive had a lot of help from
others writing this guide, all of whom are mentionedin the
credits at the bottom of the FAQ. Im pleased to say that although
most of the time im writing other guides for other games,
this is my favourite and I believe longest FAQ, its size
may not be huge but that’s because of the way its set out. I have
been writing this guide for awhile now and am still updating
regularly at the mo. Well I could probably right loads here
but it’s the guide that people want. Enjoy!

About the game
This game is a managerial game in witch you can control any
team in the world and manage it. This is the 2005 edition
of this game. You will be able to control everything you
could ever want to in this game from the tactics on
the pitch to fights with other managers off the pitch.
Overall this game is superb and one of the best football managing game
out in the shops.

That selection is in Nick’s opinion the best
team to have in CM2005, as with my selection of
the best team you will need a good amount of money,
though if you’re a team like Chelsea money won’t
really be a factor.

asking if I know of any cheats for it etc, and many things.
I don’t mind people e-mailing me but I thought I would put an
FAQ section in so people don’t waste their time asking questions
that have already been asked. He are some of the emails
I have received and the answers I have given:

Hi Stuart! I am pleased to have that you have read my guide
and am pleased to try to help you by the best of my abilities
regarding Championship manager 5. Concerning the two player
question, no I have never noticed anyway to play as two players
at once. I do have a slight feeling it may be possible but have
never discovered the way in which two players at once is achieved.
I will look for the two managers at once mode and will inform
you if I am successful.
Now for tips about Portsmouth, they are not my first choice of
team, but they are an interesting team to say the least.
If you are having problems with the clubs financial
status then I would recommend you try a handy trick I use.
My trick is to look around other clubs teams and find good
players whose contracts are running out soon. The moment
their contract runs out in the next six months you have the
option to offer them a contract and will not have to pay the club
anything. This is a good tactic for getting players cheap.
If you are having problems on the match side of things then i would
recommend sticking to the good old 4-4-2 formation.
Two attackers, four midfielders and four defenders. Also make
sure you always put the fittest players on the pitch. If a player’s
fitness is about 0-89% do not play him. Just stick him on the bench
and if necessary bring him on at half time as a sub.
If you are having problems handling the team make sure you use the
members of staff available to you at the club. Your assistant manager
will help in picking player selections for matches, playing friendly
matches and all sorts of other helpful stuff.
